On September 27, 2002, the US-ASEAN Business Council and the ASEAN Secretariat organized a forum focused on economic and financial restructuring and reform in the ASEAN region. The speakers included the finance ministers of Singapore and the Philippines and the Central Bank Governors of Malaysia and Thailand, as well as ASEAN Secretary-General Rodolfo Severino. In addition, experts from Citigroup, JPMorganChase, and State Street Corporation also provided private sector perspectives. The topics included monetary and financial system stability, capital markets development, transparency and corporate governance, and financial and corporate restructuring.

The event was attended by approximately 150 US-ASEAN Business Council members, government officials, members of the diplomatic community, academics, media, and others.
