15TH ASEAN-US Dialogue
Kuala Lumpur, May 25, 2000

Presentation by Mr. Jerry Kania
Ford Motor Company

This presentation discusses the recovery of the ASEAN automotive market, the investment in the region by U.S. auto makers, and measures that can be taken in ASEAN to improve the competitiveness of the auto industry.

It also outlines actions needed to attract new investment and facilitate greater purchases in the region by OEMs. It emphasizes the importance of AFTA implementation to the future development and growth of the auto industry.

Finally, it argues that AFTA will drive regional manufacturing integration, cost competitiveness, SME development, localization, technology transfer, and human resources development.Click here to start.
