With a career spanning the private and public sectors, he has been involved in the ASEAN region for 20 years including more than a decade when he resided in Asia and conducted business in all 10 ASEAN member countries.
From 2004-2008, Mr. Feldman held senior roles in the U.S. Department of State and U.S. Department of Commerce. Under the leadership of Secretaries of State Powell and Rice, he led the Bureau of International Information Programs and held the rank of Assistant Secretary of State, with responsibility for global public diplomacy. He was responsible for engaging international audiences on U.S. foreign policy and society. In this role, he helped form strategy for engagement with Muslim communities in Southeast Asia and visited the region to execute that strategy on a number of occasions. Mr. Feldman also oversaw the development of digital media platforms and all international websites including those at U.S. embassies and consulates worldwide. He also was the Senior Advisor to the Under Secretary of Commerce for International Trade where among other duties, he led an interagency team in the first major marketing campaign to promote American higher education abroad. Feldman and his team were awarded the Commerce Department Bronze Medal for their efforts.
Previously, Mr. Feldman served as an international media executive in TV, radio and the Internet, working for NBC Universal, News Corporation and Viacom in Asia residing in Singapore and Hong Kong. From 2002-2004, Mr. Feldman served as Vice President of Affiliate Sales for CNBC Asia Pacific and was a member of its executive management committee. He was responsible for distribution of CNBC’s television channels and syndication of its programming throughout the Asia Pacific region. He helped manage the launch of the MGM movie channel, a partnership with MGM Networks, in Greater China and Southeast Asia and was responsible for its revenue and distribution strategies. He also oversaw CNBC Asia’s foray into new media, launching their first mobile and streaming media ventures.
In 2000, Mr. Feldman founded B2Bcast.com, a webcasting company, headquartered in Singapore and focused on Asia, where he served as President and CEO. From 1999-2000, he served as Director of Network Development in Southeast Asia for MTV Networks. Prior to that, Mr. Feldman held a variety of roles at News Corporation’s STAR TV, including running its global syndication business and STAR Radio, one of the first satellite radio businesses in the world reaching more than 50 countries. At the start of his career, Mr. Feldman served as Special Assistant to the U.S. Assistant Secretary of Commerce for International Economic Policy in Washington, DC.
