In addition to board responsibilities, Kirkland is responsible for Chevron Corporation's exploration, production, and gas activities.
Previously, Kirkland served as president of Chevron Overseas Petroleum from 2002 through 2004, and was president of Chevron U.S.A. Production Co. from 2000 through 2001.
From 1992 through 1999, Kirkland was based in Nigeria where he held the positions of general manager of production, and chairman and managing director of Chevron Nigeria Ltd.
In 1990, Kirkland was appointed group manager of upstream technology for Chevron Research and Technology Co. This position followed a series of upstream assignments of increasing responsibility in San Francisco, Denver, Midland, Indonesia and Lafayette. Kirkland joined Chevron in 1974 in New Orleans.
Kirkland graduated from the University of Florida with a bachelor’s and a master’s degree in civil engineering in 1972 and 1974, respectively.
Kirkland is a member of the Board of Trustees of the Africa-America Institute, a board member of the Corporate Council on Africa, a director of the U.S.-Kazakhstan Business Association, a board member of the American Petroleum Institute, and chairman of the US-ASEAN Business Council.
Kirkland was born in August 1950. |
