Martin Hutagalung has been the US-ASEAN Business Council’s Regional Director since 2007. Based in Singapore, he is the primary liaison to Council members in the region and oversees the Council’s programs and services in Singapore and in the other ASEAN countries. Hutagalung is also responsible for the Council’s involvement in ASEAN-wide initiatives, including the Council’s annual consultations with the ASEAN Economic Ministers, ASEAN Customs Directors-General and Senior Officials responsible for trade and investment. In his capacity as Coordinator of the Council’s Customs Working Group, Martin works with member companies to eliminate customs barriers and promote trade facilitation in the ASEAN region.
Martin joined the Council in 2003 as Manager for ASEAN and APEC Affairs in the Council’s Washington DC office. He holds an MBA with a concentration in Management of Global Information Technology from American University and received his BBA with a concentration in International Business from The George Washington University.
