The workshop was attended by approximately 130 government officials from relevant ministries and departments, members of the House of Representatives, academia, business and media.

“We believe that supporting Indonesia’s efforts to strengthen its ICT policy and regulatory frameworks and national ICT master plan can produce opportunities for both the public and private sector. Intensifying ICT penetration will enable growth, human resources and skills development, and increases ICT capital investment. This can be done via ICT policy and regulatory formulation and application that builds upon the role of the private sector in leading innovation”, said Matthew Daley, President of the US-ASEAN Business Council. The US-ASEAN Business Council delegation consists of senior executives from Hewlett-Packard, Microsoft, Oracle, TimeWarner and STAR Group.

The mission is the first ever business mission by the ICT Working Group of the US-ASEAN Business Council. During the mission, the delegation met with H.E. Sofyan Djalil, Minister of Information Communications Technology; H.E. Paskah Suzetta, Minister for National Development Planning; H.E. Kusmayanto Kadiman, State Minister of Research and Technology; H.E. Theo Sambuaga, Chair of Commission I and members of Commission I of DPR-RI; Mr. Abdul Bari Azed, Director General of IPR.
