US Businesses Welcome President Triet of Vietnam to Washington

(Washington, DC) With Vietnam's recent achievement of Permanent Normal Trade Relations with the United States and the subsequent accession to the World Trade Organization, President of Vietnam H.E. Nguyen Minh Triet visits the U.S. for a week long tour. The US-ASEAN Business Council together with the US Chamber of Commerce is privileged to host President Triet and his delegation for a luncheon in Washington, DC, on Thursday, June 21st. The luncheon will be attended by 400 people from the government, diplomatic, think-tank, and media communities.

“President Triet brings a proven track record of leadership on reform and economic liberalization in Vietnam and the US-ASEAN Business Council is pleased to host him here in Washington. In our roundtable discussion with the President, we will talk about our shared goal of increasing US trade with and investment in Vietnam”, said Matthew Daley, President of the US-ASEAN Business Council.

Vietnam has been in the spotlight for the past year due to its tremendous growth and the number of companies supporting this event shows how Vietnam has been proven to be a more fertile place for foreign investment. Companies sponsoring the luncheon are AIG, Alcoa, The Boeing Company, Chevron, Citi, ConocoPhillips, Gannon International, General Electric Company, Indochina Investment, Morgan Stanley, SSA Marine, Vietnam Partners LLC, AES Corporation, ExxonMobil, FedEx Express, Hewlett-Packard, Microsoft Corporation, Oracle Corporation, Universal Telecom Services, Cargill, CMC Corporation, and Motorola.

President Triet will meet President George W. Bush on Friday at the White House. Besides Washington, DC, he visits New York and Los Angeles.
