November 14SingaporeBriefing on Singapore Free Trade Agreement The US-ASEAN Business Council will hold a briefing to update members on Singapore’s extensive network of free trade agreements (FTAs), including the US-Singapore FTA, and the implications for your company. In recent years, we have witnessed a proliferation in FTAs being negotiated and signed in Asia, particularly by Singapore, which currently has 12 agreements in force with 22 trading partners around the world. Maler Vilee, Assistant Director of IE Singapore’s Trade Promotion Group, will outline Singapore’s FTA network, and go beyond the hype and buzzwords of free trade agreements to analyze how this “spaghetti effect” of so many bilateral and multilateral FTAs has benefited Singapore, as well as local and international companies who are invested here. Many companies use Singapore as a regional hub for their Asia Pacific operations; these FTAs make operating in the country and in partner markets very advantegeous.Fauzia Sheh
