    On May 2, 2012, the Council hosted a roundtable discussion with Philippine National Defense Secretary, Hon. Voltaire T. Gazmin (above, center). It was an opportunity to exchange views, the 2 + 2 meetings and the US-Philippine defense relationship, defense priorities and the role ASEAN plays in the South China Sea.     On April 19, 2012, the US-ASEAN Business Council hosted a luncheon dialogue in honor of Philippine Finance Secretary Cesar V. Purisima (above, center) and NEDA Secretary Cayetano W. Paderanga Jr. Discussion topics included regional economic integration, fiscal policy and capital markets development. This occasion was generously sponsored by The Coca-Cola Company, Peregrine, Chevron, Citi and Oracle.

    The Council's Financial Services Working Group, comprised of 8 member companies, held its annual mission to the 16th ASEAN Finance Ministers' Meeting on March 29-30, 2012. The delegation, co-led by Juan Andrade of ACE Group, Chair of the Council's Working Group, discussed ways to support the continuing evolution of ASEAN's policy structure to strengthen the process of regional financial integration and market development.

    The Council held its annual Business Mission to Thailand where the delegation met with Prime Minister Yingluck (center) and other key Cabinet officials. The delegation was co-led by Chair of Thailand Committee Laura Hudson of Chevron, and consisted of 34 companies.

    The Council hosted a members' roundtable in Washington, D.C, with the Secretary General of the League of Cities of the Philippines, Hon. Hernani Braganza (center left). The meeting discussed economic reform and the development of cities in the Philippines. Sir Braganza is also the current Mayor of Alaminos, Pangasinan.

    The USABC and the Philippine Embassy organized an Investment Roadshow Forum in Washington D.C. The well attended forum consisted of mini presentations on the Philippine economy and leading sectors such as infrastructure, mining and the human resources followed by a moderated group discussion.
